Future Firemen

I have been 'homeschooling' Brayden for the past 2 years. Although he is only in preschool, I try to make it as structured as I can and put my elementary education degree to good use. We just finished up a unit on Fire Safety, and so I called to fire station to schedule a 'Follett Family Field Trip'. The firemen were SO WONDERFUL to the boys and gave them a complete tour of the fire station and even allowed them to climb on the fire engines, ambulances, and fire-boats (I didn't even know those existed)! They also let them try on the boots, helmets, and jackets. Brayden loved turning on and off the flashing lights of the fire engine, and Landon was fascinated by all of the equipment he was allowed to actually touch (axes, hoses, walkie-talkies, etc.)! Gavin slept through the whole trip. Both boys still talk about the trip even though it was a couple of weeks ago, and I was thrilled to put into practice what we've been learning in 'school'. Hopefully we'll continue to enjoy this 'homeschool' thing and find more opportunities for hands-on learning!

Pumpkin Patch

We have been so sick over here at the Follett home. But, when a nice warm day rolled around, we took advantage and got out of the house to visit the pumpkin patch. Poor Gavin still wasn't 100%, so he wasn't super-happy to be there. But Brayden and Landon enjoyed feeding the animals, riding a pony, and running around the corn maze. Uncle Corey and Margaret joined us too! I tried to get a picture of all three of them together, but, well, not quite. My favorite part of the whole day was when Landon spotted a Curious George cutout across the lawn and literally SPRINTED over there to hug and kiss him for 5 minutes straight! Soooo cute! He loves monkeys!!
